Been a member for a little while and just reading some pretty good information here. Thought I'd better introduce myself.
I live on the East Coast of Australia about 1''K North of Sydney. Retired about 4 years ago and as of last Xmas I had pretty well whittled down the list of jobs SWMBO had for me, so I decided to return to photography. About 3' years ago I built up and then sold a pretty good pro business along with all my gear, burnout combined with a divorce.

Have had a steep learning curve with digital & PP but with my film experience behind me I have managed to come to terms with it. It's nice to relax and enjoy photography now it's not a job.

BTW. For those unfamiliar with the term SWMBO, it stands for She Who Must Be Obeyed. :D

You will have plenty of fun with the digital world I'm sure. I would suggest you may need to look at an upgrade on the PC before long as it will struggle with the load!!

Ask questions, it's a great way to learn!!

Welcome, Bill. Yeah, I'm familiar with the concept, I've got three of 'em, the Mrs., and two college age daughters. My nickname for Mrs Brad is 'The Velvet Steamroller'. :)

Geoff I agree about the 'puter, usually shoot 3''+ shots of netball on a Saturday, weed them down to about 8'-9' and slowly wade my way through PP. Am very thankful for the synchronise function in Lightroom.

If I understand you correctly, you're asking what PP stands for?

PP = Post Processing; a general term used to describe the use of tools such as LR and PS to either enhance as-shot images or convert raw images into a more widely accessible format such as JPEG.
 
It is also short-hand for Photo-Paint, the image editor that comes with the CorelDraw suite.
