In my LR catalog I have a - rather large and slowly increasing - number of scanned images originating from a period that starts 1958 and ends 1998 (when I entered the world of digital photography). Now I would like to set their capture time into LR.

For some photos I know the capture day. For some other photos I know a range of years during which the capture was done, e.g. 1961-1963. Capture time for remaining photos are known with intermediate precision. Time (hour, minute, second) I don't know.

How can I add this fuzzy information into LR so as to be able to search by 'date':
Examples:
- find photos that may have been captured 1962-1968. (Images captured 1961-1963 should be found by such a search)
- find photos that may have been captured between November 1980 and March 1981.

Tough question.

I have not tried it yet, but maybe its a way: Select one photo, in Libray-Module, and change the time of shoot to the desired one. You have to enter all time information, including minutes.
Then you may use the search for metadata, adding a date-colum.
