frozen LR, it doesnt even open

i used LR all day, then the next day it did not work.
it seems like LR is open and i get the menu bar but im unable to do anything. i've tried opening a new catalog - its frozen.
i need to finish some work in the end of the week, so im frustrated about not being able to work. i've saved catalogues in LR so i would prefer to not delete the preferences files. what can i do?

klara, Welcome to LR Forums.

When you say you've saved 'catalogues' in LR, what do you mean exactly?

In the meantime, you can simply rename the preferences file temporarily, to test the problem. If it doesn't help, you can restore the name. I usually just add a .bak suffix.

I seem to have discovered an issue.

I start LR, and try to go into preferences, and LR freezes. Totally, stops, caput, stop dead.

The only thing that i can do is Ctl/alt/del, and stop the program there.

Actually, just discovered the lrcat.lock with the LR folders, even after LR was closed down. Let me delete it and see what happens!
