Free upgrade?

I wonder if release 2 will be free for people that paid full price for the release 1.3 not very long ago? I hope so.

I see some of the new local adjustment features are similar to the Nikon Capture NX software which is great. I love the "control points" feature in Capture and that's about the only reason I still use Capture now and then.

Also it seems to me that the Adobe Caw Raw conversion of RAW files is much better now. The color seems to match a lot better like it does in Capture NX. First observations anyway...

Adobe will make no such announcement until a final version of LR 2.' is brought out sometime in the future after this Beta period. I would expect them to do the usual (not knowing what, in fact they will do) of Upgrade Price for current users and Possibly free for the most recent 1.x buyers with in some specified time frame close to the release.

That is all we are likely to 'know' 'til it happens.

The beta period for this release is supposed to be around 5 months(and who knows after that). I would be surprised if they let people who had bought software at least a half year earlier upgrade for free.

Scott Kelby's FAQ mentions a release date of June sometime, so who knows.....

John Nack said on his blog that the beta period for this release runs through Aug. 31. Maybe they've padded it to run a little while after the release. I seem to remember the Photoshop CS3 beta ending the day of the final release.

The CS3 free update was only from the announcement time, so I thinks it's hardly likely at this early stage.
