I was going to add to an existing old thread rather than start another but it is closed

I like to search for existing answers before posting a question but usually fail to get a response from the forum search engine, for example I have just searched for 'should I use keywords or collections?' and got no answers at all, I can only assume it is broken or is it doing an exact phrase search?

I've now found that if I search for just these two words I get some results - keywords collections

Then I notice the button that suggests I use a google search, this opens up google, but I do not use google on my device, I do not trust them, I use Duck Duck Go to search.

Is using Google really the only way to reliably search the forum?

Thank you for your help.

I’ll check in with the forum software creators to see if there’s any ways it can be improved yet, but I doubt it’ll ever be as smart as dedicated search engines. If you ever get stuck with finding something, you’re always welcome to start a thread.

Most search engines allow you to search specific websites, we just suggest Google as it’s most popular. Looks like duckduckgo uses the same syntax of
site:lightroomqueen.com should I use keywords or collections
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=site:lightroomqueen.com+should+I+use+keywords+or+collections&t=h_&ia=web

Thank you, I've learnt something new today.

I can use

site:lightroomqueen.com keywords

in the Safari search bar and DuckDuckGo as my default search engine returns results perfectly without Google.

Now to see if I can find an answer to my question. There does seem to be a lot of comments on keywords or collections in the forum :)

Thank you for your help.

I can use

site:lightroomqueen.com keywords
That works well. You can have more than one search word too, narrowing it down (for example, keywords missing)

I do not use google on my device, I do not trust them,

That genie escaped the bottle a long time ago and has gone far and wide. I don't trust Google either, but they aren't the only bad actor on the web. Meta/Facebook is probably worse. If you live within the EU, you have some protections via the GDPR. Otherwise, we are the "product," not the "user." In the USA at least, some of the worst actors are "data brokers."

I use Duck Duck Go to search.
I have tried them, but their search results are inferior to Google. I wish it were otherwise.

I very very rarely go on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and never on TikTok unless my daughter sends me something I just have to watch apparently.

Am I missing out? There is so many good forums and information sources out there so probably but there is more and more disinformation and things in the feeds that I did not ask for and do not want so I don’t bother.

I do use WhatsApp though. I wish I didn’t have too but the family all use it so I’ve little choice.

I do my best to keep Microsoft out of my Apple world but I love Excel so that’s hard.

Adobe are slower edging us into their world.

I use Apple but are they any better, I’m sure someone will tell me, or do I just believe their disinformation less than I do everyone else’s.

With the up take in AI for content production most of what we read is or soon will be questionable.

I sound like a right miserable bugger don’t I or perhaps I’m just a realist.

Anyway, we can all make our own choices or can we?

None of it’s real, or is it?

Regards

It's okay, iwaddo; you already found the best Forum for Lightroom information!
