Hi,

Could anyone using LR2 and a non US keyboard layout (french for example) tell me whether it's now possible to enter accented or special characters like ê, ô, ö, â, ä,... which is currently impossible in LR 1.4.

Thanks in advance.

For me, using an international keyboard, it works using both the left-Alt + number method and the right-Alt + letter method (in both LR1.4.1 and LR2). My usual way of doing accents using "sticky keys" does not work in either version of LR.

Thanks for the details. I guess you mean "dead keys"?

I consider this as a bug. LR obviously uses its own keyboard handler. It's their choice but at least, it should accept the characters and the keystrokes from the current keyboard layout.

I'm in the software business since the PC exists and I find really amazing that we are still struggling with US developers (and especially with big software shops like Adobe) to make them aware that there's a life beyond 7-bit ASCII :cheesy: and the US keyboard.

Best regards.

Erhm, I'm not quite sure of the official name, but I mean the 'trick' where you press a " first and then when you press the e you get an ë (hey, it works ;)).

Yes, the first key is called a "dead key" because it does nothing until you depress another key.

I hope they will not wait until L3 to fix this.

Cheers.

Hi again,

I first believed that the problem was caused by using a keyboard layout not corresponding to the language used in LR (french keyboard with english LR and english version of XP). But the problem is the same when the OS, the LR language and the keyboard layout are consistent. So this is really a bug.
