Followup: Settings location

Just as a followup to another thread, could we please, please, please have LR store the Preferences file with the other settings file when we use the "Store presets with catalog option"?

You can call me anal-retentive, obsessive-compulsive or whatever but I just like to have everything in one place to access, backup or delete as I see fit. Is this too much to ask???? If we can store all the presets, modules, etc. in the catalog folder why not the preferences?

Well... Some preferences are specific to a catalog while others affect Lightroom at large. The problem come with the fact that you can have more than one catalog and that those can be at quite different locations.

The preferences are global - they apply to all catalogs - so backing those up with the catalogs wouldn't be ideal.

Thanks, Denis and Victoria. I can see the logic in the way it's set up now. I only run one catalog so the idea of having only one preferences file for multiple catalogs didn't occur to me.

This is right Victoria. As I don't play much with my "Catalog Parameters" I taught it was "Catalog Preferences". This is why I said "some preferences... while others...".

Anyway, Bill got the idea.
