Hello All, my first post in what looks to be a very useful forum. My question relates to the count of pics at the folder title. I have LR on two computers and one has the pic count on the root folder showing the number contained in everything that resides under it, and the numbers show in every level under that relating to what that folder contains. The other one just shows the number of pics in that folder with no indication of what is contained down further. For example I have just lazily thrown in a few photos to the root folder at some stage and that is all it shows, even though there are >5'K residing under it. The other computer identifies that there are >3''' photos contained under its root folder. Try as I may I just can't find a place to reset the errant one.

Have you tried synchronising the folder Lynn. Is the computer that can't count Australian??? LOL

I have just spent 2 days getting it all in order, namely importing several thousand PSDs that were pre maximise compatability. So the short answer is this main folder has been synced several times. I seem to recall that it has been like it for a while but I really took notice of it yesterday while performing the above task and looked at the root folder count being 4 - that shook me up a bit until I looked further down. Its always nerve wrecking playing with these things.

A couple of ideas:

If you've recently added many images, LR will spend ages creating previews and sometimes gets its priorities a bit wrong. It might just need time to work through things. Leave it switched on overnight (after a re-boot). It might grind to a halt because of memory leak issues and you will then need to re-start Lightroom, maybe even re-boot just to be sure, a few times.

Another thing to try is optimising the catalog (Edit > Catalog Settings > Relaunch and Optimise (button).
