Folders in app, match folder in finder

So my folders for this external drive looks like this:

If you look at my finder, there are folders not showing. (See below) Also 2018 is filled with other folders as well. Many.

My goal is to use Lightroom to organize the folders better. Do I just need to add the missing folders, via import and just "add"?

Or is there a better way to organize the folders in the finder, then add to lightroom organized?

Worried about duplication of folders.

All this in hopes of having a clear organized set of folders of all my photos to back up.
 
These two screenshots say nothing. The folders that Lightroom shows inside the 2018 folder could very well be there, but we can't see that because you didn't expand the 2018 folder in de Finder screenshot. Click on the arrow in front of the folder icon to do so. The 2018-08-21 and 2018-10-21 shown in the Finder screenshot could very well be in Lightroom too, but your Lightroom screenshot does not show that because you have cut off this screenshot above the point where they would show.
 
Apologies, I will try and explain more and post again. I am very good with lightroom but this issues appears to perplex me.
