Hi all,
I have been using LRC for about 5 years and only a week ago have encountered this issue. I copied images from my SD card to PC, opened LR and selected Add New Folder. Everything seemed ok until I looked on the left panel to see the amount of images in that folder say 0 and is greyed out.
I have tried pausing sync and restarting since this worked with the last larger import the day before but didn't work this time. I also started following steps to reset Preferences but got a popup warning saying "these files are used by the operating system. Editing or modifying them could damage your system" so I didn't go any further.
I have also tried updating my Driver in the last week so maybe that has something to do with it?
The attached file highlights the folder in question. The images seem to be in the right place on my PC so not sure why it says 0 count. Other folders such as the Alaska (main folder) and Jpg subfolder have successfully imported. I don't know what to do from here.

If you can see the images or image files in this folder using Windows File Explorder, then I suspect that those images are already in the LrC Catalog someplace. Maybe the inadvertantly got imported into so other folder. With "All Photogoraphs" selec ted, filter for one of the file names and see if the image shows up in the grid. If it does, right click on it and select "Go to Folder in Library" and it will select the folder the image is already in.
Using the "Add Folder" option in the Folders panel (which I assume is what you did) in LrC does NOT automatically add any images that happen to be in that folder to the catalog. You have to specifically use the Import process, using that folder as the source in the left-hand panel of the Import dialog. Alternatively, now that you've already added the folder to the Folders Panel, you can right-click on that folder and select the "Synchronize Folder" option, which effectively does the import to add the folder's images to the catalog.

Oh sorry I completely forgot that I posted this already and didn't get a notification that you replied! Will give this a go thanks but it has ALWAYS added the folders to the catalogue that way until now. Seems strange that it is only now deciding to not do it. Thanks for directing me back to this original (forgotten) post!

Have tried synchronizing the folder as suggested but then get this pop-up so it's like it can't find them on the computer.

All images are greyed out when trying to use the Import process.

Thanks for the tip, when you say filter for one of the file names do you mean type it into the "keywords" section?

Never mind I worked it out and found that the files have been copied to a completely different drive to the one it should have gone to! So thank you big time for helping me find them!! Only problem now is that drive seems to be missing altogether from my pc...! I can tell this is going to turn into one big headache since I'm not too techno savvy.

If the drive is plugged in but not showing up in your "This PC" section of Windows File Explorer, try unplugging it, wait a minute, then plug it back in. If that doesn't work, Try using a different cable between the drive and your computer.

I discovered that my card reader is in fact G Drive haha so somehow I have copied the images back to my sd card! Successfully dragged and dropped the folder into the correct drive and all is working as it should again. Thank you Califdan for all your help!

I opened Lightroom and selected "Add New Folder" to import them. Everything seemed fine at first, but when I checked the left panel, it showed that the folder contained 0 images and was greyed out. I tried pausing the sync and restarting, as that worked for a previous large import, but it didn’t help this time.
