Hi, I've just set up on a new PC including copying a folder called For Lightroom which holds my photos for processing. I couldn't use the same path as the new PC only has drive C whereas my old PC had C and D and the folder was kept on D.

All my photos are there, we are only talking of just over 6k., I can develop them and if I remove any where I had duplicates from previous imports and then check the For Lightroom sub-folders the images have been removed so that all appears to be fine.

For importing new images I use a folder within For Lightroom called For Importing (which avoids the aforementioned duplicates) which has always worked fine. But with the new installation it was showing greyed out and zero files even though I've added some to the folder. I've removed the folder and replaced it with a new one called For Importing Images and tried updating the folder location but it's still showing the folder as empty. Hovering over the folder shows the path as being correct so I'm stumped really.

Also as you can see from the image attached whilst OS (C) has a green indication the sub-folders Chris and For Lightroom have warnings. They say they have sub-folders missing and to relink. I've tried updating the Chris and For Lightroom locations but no luck. Is this relinking or is that something else which I can't find?

The black circle (!) icons are new to this version of LrC and are an indicator that a subfolder is missing. It is the sub folder that you need to identify and correct its location.

If these folder trees were complete and correct on the old computer and located on a different volume (different drive letter), all you should need to do is copy that complete folder tree to C:\ and update the location of folder “Chris” in your master LrC Catalog. The appearance of the black circle(!) suggests that these were not complete and correct before you copied them to the new computer.

The sub-folders Chris and For Lightroom are not missing, so updating their location doesn’t do anything. The warning icon tells you that some folder(s) further down in the hierarchy (not shown in your screenshot) are missing.

Thanks Cletus and Johan. I've managed to sort the importing part out using my For Importing Images folder - I'd already put some images in the folder before trying to rectify things via LR but after removing these and replacing everything was fine. After importing the folder was empty and then greyed out.

I've also identified a couple of missing folders and photographs which are not showing in the hierarchy - I'm guessing this happened some time ago? So I'm now in the progress of reinstating those.

Thanks again.
