Hi all!

First, I must specify that I work with OS X. I just imported photos in Lightroom directly from where they were (no copying, nor moving the files by Lr). Instead of puting the files in the same "Lightroom Directory", Lr just duplicated the folder name and show it as in another "Volume". To correct that, I tried to move the newly created folder into the new one... Bad thing! Lightroom just lost track of the folder. No problem you will say... Just find the folder... But there is my REAL problem... The folder DISAPPEARED from the finder!!! No way to see it, no way to find it, even from the terminal...

Attached Image 1 shows what Lr did when importing, then image 2 is the result of moving the 2nd folder into the first one. As I said, I can't find the folder named Yannick Méthot anywhere... : (

Please help me!

Bumble bee, welcome to the forums.

What version of Lr are you using? Your info block says Lr 2.4, however, it also says you're using Windows XP, when your post says OSX, so I'm thinking that may be incorrect.

The reason I ask, is that this type of volume duplication was a bug that sometimes occurred in Lr 2.2.

Other than that, I'm Windows, so let's see what the Mac folks suggest.....

Hi Brad!

I modified my profile info... Thanks for the hint! I'm on OS X and Lr version is 2.4 but the bug is still there... : (

Thanks for the reply!

Hi bumblebee, welcome to the forum!

For a start, I'd go looking on your hard drive to find the files. That would be an excellent start.

Once you've found them, right click on that folder - the one in the correct volume - and choose Find Missing Folder and point it to the correct location.

Then we'll fix the other 2 folders on that mystery volume, as it should only be one volume showing there.

Out of interest, is that an internal or external hard drive?

Hi Victoria!

In fact, the folder is not anywhere to be found on my HD. It is an external HD btw... I have done a spotlight search, a standard search and a terminal search... The folder has disappeared completely, even when I turn invisible files visible! So, I can't do the "Find the missing folder" thing from lightroom... It's like if Lr tried to put the 2nd folder into the 1st folder, but in fact the 2nd was the 1st, so the system just lost track of everything or something like that...

Anyway... I had to try everything... With the help of the FileSalvage software (http://subrosasoft.com/OSXSoftee/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1), I got my files back!!! I had to rename them all with the right filename, but that's nothing! Then I just placed them in a folder named like the disappeared one and Lr just recognized everyone of them!!! Cooooool!!!

Don't know what is causing Lr to do that over and over, but I'll do a mirror BU of my HD from now on!

Thanks for your reply!!! :)

PS : I just looked at your websites... I'll be visiting often I think! : ) Thanks for your time!

Bizarre - don't suppose they were in the recycle bin, were they? Did the file salvage software tell you where it found them?

FileSalvage has "scanned only free space" on my external HD. It also found old files that I had deleted a while ago... The trash was empty. It was the first place I looked! : )
