Lightroom Version Number
LrC 12.1
Operating System
  1. Windows 11
I found this thread and have exactly the same problem:
https://www.lightroomqueen.com/comm...blish-to-flickr-after-moving-computers.37234/

It worked fine for years on my old Win 10 PC, but I'm now on a new PC with Win 11, LrC 12.1. I've tried all 4 steps in the Adobe link there. It goes to the Flickr site and authorises fine, but LrC publishing service just sits waiting for authorisation, and returns the dialogue "An internal error has occurred. There is something wrong in CryptUnprotectData." Maybe a windows 11 problem? LrC runs fine otherwise.

Any help welcome thanks!

Update. I de-authorised my Flickr account in the Flickr Publishing Service on my old PC in case that was the problem. Just the same. Sits waiting for a response from flickr.com forever, even though Flickr has authorised it, and leaves a blank Adobe page in the browser.
I also tried re-loading the Plug-in from the author tools in the Lr Plug-in Manager.

Whos' Flickr Publish Serv ice plugin are you using?

Sorry, can't help you on that one.

You may want to look at the one from Jeffrey Friedl (http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/flickr) .

Several hundred years ago, when I first entered the world of PS's (Publish Services) as a way to manage images on various web services I compared the default Adobe offering for Flickr against this one and found that Jeffrey's was way more sophisticated with way more options and controls and also tended to work whereas the Adobe version was barely bare bones and many times didn't work. One of the reasons I'm mentioning this is that Jeffrey's version has a sync optiuon in case you want to populate his PS from what you already have in Flickr but in addition he seems to have a tools that will migrate the info and images from Adobe's Plugin to his plugin.

This plug in is "donationware" and to use its full capability you'll need to donate something (as little as one cent if your that sort of person) and will need to re-donate with each new integer number release of Lrc (eg when LrC/13 comes out -probably next fall). I give him $15 each tuime which is well worth the time and effort he puts into these plugins and the value I get from it. (PS - I have no stake in his business, just a happy user of his products)

Thanks for the info. I've come across his stuff before. I've never had a real problem with the Adobe Plug-in before, but if I can't resolve it, I'll give it a look.

Bruce, you didn't ask this, but I can't resist sharing my thoughts on this. Why do you use a publishing app to post your shots to Flickr?
Could you suffer me sharing some advice?
I have uploaded 26,000 images to Flickr, and they are all full-size jpegs that have been exported in LR from a raw file. I have a workflow for that and can't imagine giving up control to a publishing service.
I'm shooting in Mexico now and this morning am about to upload about seventy 50 MB jpegs jpegs exported from 150 MB Fuji GFX RAF raw files.
I export them to a temporary folder on my desktop from LR at full size and 90% quality. I then view them quickly to make sure there are no glitches, or that I missed something in the edits that I see on review. Then I go into the Flickr program on my laptop (while traveling or from my PC at home) and I upload the jpegs to the album I create or however I want to do it. But I do that from Flickr because they havea lot of tools that can be helpful of uploading files. Why us a publishing app?
I have never understood why anyone would publish directly from LR to Flickr using another app or what that would gain you except possible error, lack of control and confusion.

Thanks for your input Greg. I've used LrC for editing and tagging photos for years, and the Adobe Flickr plug-in always worked well for me. I used to be able to post to Instagram with another plug-in. but that stopped working, so I now post direct to the latter now that is possible from the browser version. The Flickr Upload is better than it used to be, and allows adding to albums before posting. I'd still need to open the albums in Flickr Oranize to save in the order I want though, so of little advantage. I don't post huge numbers, so if I can't get the Adobe Flickr plug-in working, I'll probably post direct from Flickr Upload, or take a look at the Jeffrey Friedl plug-in.
