flatten keyword hierarchy

Hi – does anybody know how to flatten a keyword hierarchy? I can drag keywords to other top keywords, but I can't drag a keyword to top level. Ideally, I would like to collapse the whole hierarchy to have only one level of keywords.

Hi Ariadne, welcome to the forum!

You should be able to drag a keyword to a top level - you'll see it become a line between 2 keywords when you drag it, rather than dragging onto another keyword.

Thanks Victoria. I didn't notice that. Another problem is that I have many keywords that occur several times in the Keyword list, but under different parent keywords. I would like them to appear all as the same in a flat keyword list. It seems that if the keyword already appears in the toplist, then it can't be added if you try to drag the same word, but coming from a different parent keyword. Not sure if this makes sense...

I'd drop them inside each other, and then once you've finished flattening, I'd go through those keywords and drag the subkeywords contents onto the main keyword and delete the subkeywords.

Thanks again. That will work. I've got thousands of keywords, with sub-keywords etc. It will take forever though. I was hoping there would be an easier way.
