I'm looking to see what I'm missing or how I could improve HDR processing.

At the moment, I flag all the images I want to work on. For HDR images, I add the suffix -A,-B and -C to the filename of the 'A' image. I have a Nikon D5300 so only bracket 3 automatically.

I then select the 3 images, do a Photo Merge HDR and flag for HDR to create a stack. While my NEF files are all flagged, the new DNG is not. That also seems to prevent the stack images from being seen. It means my attribute filter to show flagged images loses the HDR stack.

If I stack the pictures first then they are flagged. If I then HDR the stack, the resulting stack is not.

So, my question is can the HDR stack be set to be flagged?

Thanks

You may consider using a color label rather than a flag. If you create an HDR from a number of images with a certain color label, then the resulting HDR DNG image will also get that color label.

Thanks Johan. I removed the flags from some non-stacked/non-HDR photos, set their colour to BLUE, stacked them, HDR'd them and the resulting stack is labelled blue. Now, if we could just get LR's HDR to do the same thing with flags.

Johan, it's not that flags are more important over labels but why should I have to complicate my workflow by either switching my use of flags to labels or adding labels for HDR? It was nice just to select for those images flagged. My other step was to rate the flagged pictures.

For now, I think I'll just do the extra step of flagging the HDR stack since I don't do much HDR.
