I have had abysmal results experimenting with Firefly. Examples include asking it to lighten a subject’s face and each of the 3 results changed her clothes. Another time I asked it to remove shine from a face and it replaced the face. The 3 results had the same faux face with different angles and expressions, neither of which were the original subject.

I cancelled and returned to Lr. My question, did I waste any credits in the process if I undid the edit and cancelled to return to Lr?

You can check that yourself. Go to the CC app, and click on your account icon. There should be a link to check your credit balance. If on the iPad, then open a browser and go to ‘account.adobe.com’. Login and then click on your icon in the upper right corner.

With the Photography Plans, you get 500 credits a month and your 500 credit balance is refreshed each month. I would not worry about wasting a few learning how to use Firefly.

Did you see these posts on how you write Firefly (and other) prompts? It's important to say both what you want and don't want the tool to do, and while his actual prompt of mine steered it to keep the face original, it still decided to remove the guy's hat because I hadn't told it not to change the clothing:

Make this look like a painted portrait in the style of Rembrandt with the face very close to the original and the scene changed to smoke like the edge of a seventeenth century battlefield.

Also, which AI Model you choose in Firefly makes a big difference to the cost in credits and the results. I would expect Google's Nano Banana to produce the best results with the above prompt, but it's generally 4-5x costlier than Firefly.
