Within my catalog I have 45366 photos and 43058 synced photos. Other than going through the whole catalog looking for photos without the lull double arrow sign, is there a way to find all the unsynced photos?

Easiest way would be to tag the 43058 synced photos in some unique way: a special keyword perhaps, or an unused colour label. Then a quick smart collection to list all photos that don't have that special tag.

Go to All Synced Photos, select all. Go to All Photos, Edit > Select Inverse.
