In LR 1.4

I could select a folder and keyword for filtering.

I used this alot.

Not it seems either or.

How can I see all the files with some keyword but only in a singe folder?

Use the folder browser, left hand panel to select the target folder.

Then use the filter bar at the top of the grid to filter on the keyword(s). Press \ to expose the filter bar if it's hidden. Then click Metadata on the filter bar to display the
Metadata filter columns. (I don't think the keyword column is displayed by default, so if you don't see it, click on the column heading of the left most column, and select keyword from the drop down list.) Navigate to the target keyword, and select it.
That should give you all your 'Aunt Betty' pix in the "2''8'8'8' folder.

Not as simple as 1.x, but far more unified and flexible.

You can do 'OR' searches by ctrl-clicking in the same keyword column. You can do 'AND' searches by adding additional keyword columns, and selecting additonal terms in each.

For the simplest searches you can use the Text filter instead, and select Keywords as the target search field. Again you can do ANDs and ORs and NOTs by careful use of the
'Contains' option.

Alternatively, use a smart collection
