Hi all,

I am using a workflow whereby I take photos with the iPhone, arrange them into Albums whilst on the phone whilst doing some sorting and have them sync via CC with Lightroom Classic.
I realized (and researched online to confirm) that when I delete some Photos from these synced Albums in Lightroom Classic, they disappear from the Album and "All Synced Photos" - but the files actually still remain in the catalogue. I am now looking for a way to filter for these photos that are in no Album so I can delete them. All other photos are in some Album. How do I best do this?

Or if someone has a better worklfow idea, I am of course also open. Moving to Lightroom CC away from Classic is not an option as I dont want to have my entire catalogue in the cloud. Many thanks and best regards,

Viridian

In Lightroom Classic, these albums become collections. You can create a smart collection that searches for images not in any collection: Collection does not contain ‘a e i o u’. Just don’t create an album called “gfhtrbnfgtr”... :)

Or select all of the photos in All Synced Photos, click on All Photographs and go to Edit menu > Invert Selection. Just watch out for videos though, as Classic doesn't consider them synced even if they are in the cloud.

Thank you Victoria, you’ve just shown me how to do something I’ve been trying to do for ages! I’ve now found the 1100 unsynced photos I’ve never been able to identify!

Now that you've cleaned up the photos in Lightroom but not in sync'd albums, here's another workflow suggestion that might work for you. Instead of actually deleting the photos from the Album, flag them with an 'X'. Then go to All Photos and filter on anything with the 'X' flag then delete those photos. You'll get a prompt asking if you want to totally delete or just remove from Lightroom. You could also use the toolbar, Photo -->Delete rejected photos as well.
