  • 25 June 2024 It's Lightroom update time again! See What’s New in Lightroom Classic 13.4, Mobile & Desktop (June 2024)? for the bug fixes and new lens profiles. Warning... this is a minor dot release and does NOT fix some of the bugs introduced in 13.3, so if you reverted to 13.2 due to bugs (e.g. sync issues), we'd suggest you stay there for now.

this issue seems to still remain in v13
I tried to delete the v13_Helper.lrdata as well as the older Helper.lrdata files and restart but the issue still remained
I then removed the file Lightroom-catalogue-v13-3 Helper.lr data and restarted and it finally did the trick. so that's the one now.

seems to happen only on photos stored on my external drive (ssd). not on the part of my catalogue which is in my macbook pro drive.

anyone has managed to fix this issue for good?
thanks

In other words the image file is showing as missing in LrC.

Could be that the EHD is unplugged or has a failing cord or the SSD is havung problems. Or, it could be due to somethig you did with/to the EHD outside of Lrc like rename to volume, folders or files. Or, rearranged folders outside of LrC. This could also be the capitaliaation problem discussed in othe threads.

Actually just the file size field not the file as a whole.
It just happens periodically every few weeks/months and I have to delete that file (helper) and it works fine again

The bug is still outstanding and hasn't been marked as fixed by Adobe:
https://community.adobe.com/t5/ligh...ize-after-reconnecting-a-drive/idi-p/13588619

It occurs when at some point LR tries to access the file size when the disk containing the file is disconnected. It caches the "File not found" indication in Helper.lrdata and forgets to store the correct size when the disk gets reconnected.

There were lots of bugs for the first year or so when Adobe introduced Helper.lrdata to speed up Library. Most have been fixed, but some still remain, and I'm skeptical they'll ever get fixed.
