File Cannot Be Opened

I am a VERY new user. I brought files into lightroom, but when I select a picture and go to the Develop Module a message appears stating "this file cannot be opened". I don't know what to do next. I have referenced the help screen and two different books.

Hi Brian, welcome to the forum!

Most likely the original file is no longer where Lightroom is expecting to find it. Check in Grid mode - is there a question mark in the corner? If so, click on it, and show Lightroom where to find it now. It's usually as a result of the file being moved or renamed outside of Lightroom.
