I would not hold your breath on this one...

In all honesty, as nice as this might be, it is way down there on the list of priorities and feature sets LR users need........IMHO.

I disagree, I desperately want this. The most time consuming part of maintaining all the photos i take is keywording. Any part of it that can be automated would be a great help.

Tim, whether you feel strongly or not, as Brad says it is unlikely to be a high priority.

Keyword Sets are useful for this type of workflow action

LR is not CS3

In all fairness LR is not CS3. For CS3 this may not be a priority item.

But LR is targetted for a broader audience than just Pro or Prosumer customers. It means that tagging is necessarily a high priority item.

That is if Adobe wants more customers to use this product for cataloging.

You may want to place a feature request using the link in the top bar of this page.
CS3 will never have this type of feature as it is now superseded by CS4

Poll the Users...

So today iPhoto joined Picasa in adding face recognition to their package. I too wish that you prioritized this feature as it is a real time saver. As happens all too much in software development, you don't understand how we use your product.

I am a photo hobbyist but still have THOUSANDS of digitial photos spanning over a decade. As the technology has changed they have resided on cards, proprietary camera manufacturer software, MS picture folders, hard drives, NAS, iPhoto, Aperature, Picasa, Shutterbug, websites, Flickr with various formats. You must believe that the major challenge is manipulating photos when it is ORGANIZING them. Moving to LR rarely brings forward any keywording necessary for this task. So moving to your new package means days, if not weeks of PAINSTAKING re-org and tagging.

If you asked your users, what are you really trying to find in your library...I guarantee it would be a specific picture of a specific person at a specific location. FACE RECOGNITION AND GEOTAGGING are the key features for creating the data necessary to finding the photo. To me and my friends this seems like common sense. I do not need more PS capabilities in LR. I however do NEED more organization, workflow and data import/export capabilities. Split the work with Picasa, they have an open API and a pretty good search algorithm (sarcasm). They want to rule the air you want to rule the desktop so it seems an equitable marriage...

Okay I am starving...so my rant is over.

RSZ, welcome to the forums. You may be under the mistaken impression that we are some how affiliated with Adobe. This is a completely independent forum owned and operated by Ian Farlow, a Lr user just like you and me, with the assistance of a few volunteer moderators, and a much larger number of knowledgable sharing folks.

Our sole relationship here with Adobe, is that a few Adobe employees are casual members here, and you can access the Official Bug Report and Feature Request form and Official Help Lr Documents from the toolbar at the top of the thread.

Your stated desire is not unheard of, I suggest you take advantage of the Feature Request form and file one for your request. The more requests for a feature, the higher its priority is likely to be set.

Sorry not South African, but I do get that alot due to my tag but only from non-Americans. Those from the states are not always as well versed in world affairs or history (sigh).

Feed was beyond good. Seafood Linguini Alfredo that tasted as if everything was caught minutes before coming to my table...but don't get me started.

I really think it's a plus if Lightroom adopt the face recognition function. I suppose LR is a photo organizing program and face recognition helps us the user alot. filled the request form.
