I had never happened to use the Fkey shortcuts (for example F2) to name on the fly. However, F2 is getting me the desktop brightness controls (default Mac setting). I took a look at various preferences but couldn't seem to find where to get Lightroom to recognize its own shortcuts. Guessing it may be a setting in System Preferences rather than Lightroom itself?

Can anyone set me straight? Renaming on the fly would be nice.

(If this is not the right forum to post this question on, please let me know where I should post such relatively simple questions.)

You are right: it is a system preference thing. And I guess you are working on a MacBook(Pro)?

Two ways:
- hold down the function key (fn) and press F2. (you have to be in the library-module).
- Go to SystemPreferences / Keyboard (guessing here since I am on a swedish OS) and the top button should be something like: Use F1, F2 etc as ordinary funktionkeys. Tick that if it is unticked. (now you have to press the fn-key if you want to change Brightness).

Hope this helps.
