Exporting with rename

In LR 1.4 I would arrange the images in the order I wanted them to appear in Photoshop (CS2), but when I exported them and looked at them in Bridge they would be back in their original order and I'd have to start all over again.

Today I tried renaming the files before I exported them so they would hopefully stay in the order I had sorted them. (at weddings we usually try to take all the photos we can before the ceremony-usually without bride & groom seeing each other-and then we'll sort them as if they were taken after the ceremony).

Anyway when I went into Bridge after the export from LR I was surprised to see that not only were the renamed shots exported into a new folder as jpgs but they also showed up as CR-2 files using the new name. WHY? So now I have the original raws and also the renamed. This is going to take up a lot of disk space and also the metadata doesn't reference the original file name if I would ever have to go back to the DVDs I cut after the files were downloaded.

When I exported the files they were renamed as Acc-Sequence # starting with 1'1. These represent the files that are going to be used as Accents in the album (gown, jewelry, flowers, invitations, etc). Did I use a wrong naming procedure or what? I'd like to know before I export the main album prints which I will rename using the Bride's initials and a sequence # starting with 1''1. (jb-1''1)

Rob, I think I understand, but

Just to be clear, let's assume we have one CR2 photo.

You imported the CR2. You adjusted it, etc.

You then exported the CR2 to a renamed JPG in a new/different output folder.

You also found a renamed 'surpise' copy of the CR2, somewhere? Where was this file in relation to the original CR2, and the exported renamed JPG? Do you know if it was actually a CR2 file, or could it have been a JPG format, with a misnamed filetype?

Extra RAWs

Ok, I checked back and here's how I did it:

When we go through the images we mark the ones we want to use as accents with a Blue Label. Those we work on and then export out to a folder we call Accents.

For example, file #IMG-4151_5H_111'41.CR2 (This file was renamed in Breezebrowser Downloader from IMG-4151.CR2 to add 5H which is my assistants 5D [mine is 5B], and the 111'41 is the capture time)

Anyway when I exported the files I renamed them in LR as Acc-Sequence starting with #1'1, using Custom Name-Sequence setup.

I don't know what happened but Bridge ended up with a Folder Named Accents which holds the renamed Jpgs and I also have the original Raw files with the long filename and now there is also a new set of Raw files named Acc-1'1.CR2, 1'2 etc. I checked to be sure and they do come up in Adobe Camera Raw.

Where are the new Raw files?

This is kind of weird. I can see this happening either by BB DL mistakenly duplicating the files, or by Lr's Import and create backup copy function, but in either of those cases, you'd expect the mystery raws to have the long file name.

Can you explain the folder relationships of the 3 file sets a little better?
1) Where are the original long filename CR2s that were imported to Lr
2) Where are the Acc-nnn.jpg's in relation to the originals
3) Where are the mystery Acc-nnn CR2s in relation to 1) and 2) ?
