I just picked up my copy today and new to the forum, it's great to finally be an LR2 user!

I've successfully applied a graphic identity plate in slideshow; however, I'm not actually trying to create a slideshow. I really just wanted to watermark 15'+ images as efficiently as possible. Is there a way to export my images without the border or screen filler? I'd like to export all images as they were imported originally--borderless, but with my watermark.

I've search as far as I could in the forum and did not find anyone out there with the same question. If I missed it and this was already addressed, I apologize. Any nudge in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

*** I'm a DORK, I just figured it out in Print. Gaaaaaah! ****

Welcome aboard MachineHead! The other thing to check out is Tim Armes' LR2/Mogrify plugin - brilliant for watermarking images with whatever watermark you fancy.

Somewhat related to this post...I've downloaded Mogrify and it is incredible. Now, is there a way to have the watermark display on screen (for web/email browsing), but not have it show when the same picture is printed? Maybe I just don't understand what a watermark really is?!

If you only apply the watermark on Export for web/email uses you won't be applying the watermark to the original source file, which you can use for printing from the Print module sans watermark.

Problem being, I am not using the Print module in LR to print client's photos. At this time in my business (very beginning!!), I import and edit the photos in LR, then export them to a cd for the client to print, download onto their blog, FB, etc.

Maybe I'm after something that isn't possible...one copy of each photo, watermarked for screen viewing, but I don't want the watermark to show when printed. Do I just need to give two copies, one watermarked for screen, and one without watermark for printing? Appreciate all the feedback...I am a definite LR novice.

Yes, 2 copies would be a better bet, but if you're giving them printable resolution, are they even going to use the screen resolution?

If you need invisible watermarks, you could investigate things like the Digimarc watermark, but it's an expensive option, and therefore probably not worth considering.

Watermarks usually become part of the image, changing the pixel data itself, which is why it always appears in print if it's on screen.

Thanks for the reply Victoria..by the way, love your blog! At this point, we are giving clients printable resolution photos, but also the option to post the pic on FB, their blog, etc. I want to make sure when the clients are posting the photos online, we are being marketed by our watermark to other possible clients. "Word of mouth" through facebook has already been incredible marketing! Thanks again.

You'll have to tell them that's what you want to do then... and there's no guarantee that they will indeed do so. Of course, I guess you could give them the screen res originally, and then once they've done all their online posting, give them the full res.

That's exactly what I do.

The proofs are sized perfectly for Facebook, and are licensed in such a way that posting online is explicitly allowed, but the visible watermark must not be removed or hidden, or credit must be posted alongside the photo. If they buy anything, they get the full-size file with no watermark. They could then post that one, but they've already posted the proof, and I've been compensated anyway.
