Exporting 3:2 aspect ratio

Hello,

How do I get a photo export exactly as a 3:2 ratio?

I exported a photo with longest edge as 8'' pixels and they are reading as 6" X 9.1", 12 X 18.1",16" X 24.2" and 24" X 36.2". I want them to read as 6" X 9", 12 X 18",16" X 24" and 24" X 36".

Please provide the steps in the export process.

First, you have to crop the photo to a 3:2 (or 6:4) aspect ratio; then export.

My photos are taken from a 3:2 ratio camera. However, I exported a photo which 8'' edge on longest edge and it shows 6 X 9.1 but need exactly 6 X 9.

The sensors on many Nikon DSLRs are not exactly 3:2. They're off by eight pixels one way or the other. If this level of precision matters to you, then you need to crop to 3:2 before exporting.

If you are concerned about inches, that tells me that you are printing to a physical media where the size matters or you have a specification to match. If that is the case, you might consider changing your Export dialog to read inches instead of pixels. Make your longest edge 9", 18", etc. and then set your resolution to whatever the print-maker requires. But you will need to crop to precisely 3:2 prior to doing this if you want it to the pixel or nearest .'1"

If you are not printing to physical media and only going to screen, inches are pretty much irrelevant.
