There is something I do regularly in Lightroom: I re-export to Lightroom for the purpose of applying another round of settings, but at different values. So far, I've used this technique primarily for sharpening and vignettes.
This feature request is to have lightroom handle this exported copy automatically as a change to the original as opposed to a separate entity. This feature request is very similar to a previous feature request: "1''% integration with destructive editors", except it does not involve an external editor - the idea is the same.
Vignette example: Sometimes I want a soft wide round vignette and a harder thinner border vignette. Present Solution: Export to Lightroom with the soft wide round vignette then add a harder thinner border vignette to the new copy. Stack and make notes that describe the reason for a secondary copy and allow me to reproduce, in case I need to go back and make changes.
Sharpening example: Most recently I have a picture of a bird in a tree. The focus was off but I wanted to salvage the picture by sharpening the bird at different settings than the rest of the picture. Present Solution: Export to Lightroom with sharpen settings appropriate for tree, then sharpen the bird in the new copy, locally, using different settings. As usual, make notes that aid in working on the photo later, if desired.
