I want to do a favor for some family member and export 5-6000 photos into a folder hierarchy by date. So I want the output files in a hierarchy like this:

|-2016
|-----11
|---------05
|---------06
|---------07
|-----12
|---------15

I can't figure out how to do this. Can anyone tell me how to do it?

Lightroom itself cannot create those folders but using Finder one can create a folder hierarchy in the way that you desire.

Once you have done that, then, using the export dialog, direct images selected by date to the appropriate folder.
In the export dialog the very first box is "export location".
"Export To:" has several options - select "specific location".
Just below and to the right click on choose - this dialog allows one to navigate to the folder you wish to place those exported images into.
Once you have done this there are other options to consider to consider in the export dialog but the above explanation concentrates on where the images will be placed.

I am always aware of the possibility thatI might have misinterpreted the question - if that is the case then feel free to restate the question.

Jeffrey Friedl has a plug-in to do this kind of export. Jeffrey's "Folder Publisher" Lightroom Plugin
