I'm trying to use the 'export' feature to export to an external (usb 2) burner. The process works ok - finds the external drive ok - but always asks for a writable disk. The disc's I put in are ok - the externel drive works fine - all drivers up to date etc.
There is no problem when I use the burner built into the laptop.
Anyone any ideas please?
Robert

Yes, I'm having the same problem.

Win XP SP2: all versions of Lightroom.

Would love to see an answer.

I did what is suggested elsewhere: uninstalled Lightroom. Scanned the LR disk, disabled anti-virus and firewalls, then re-installed LR.

I was able to make one CD as the program is supposed to work. The second and subsequent tries failed.

Sorry to see we haven't managed to come up with any useful solutions for you yet. I haven't run into any problems, so I can't think of anything useful to suggest (other than exporting to the hard drive and then burning with proper burning software - the LR burning is more of a convenient add-on). Hopefully someone will have some bright ideas though!

Since I use Nikons, I use the cheapo Picture Perfect supplied with the camera, download and burn before I do anything else.

Then, I either open LR and import to a new location or wait until I have more time and import from the CD/DVD.

But it would be nice to be able to do all of this in one place, and that's what I thought I was getting when I bought LR.

What software came with the computer for disc burning? Have you tried putting an alias to that program in the Export Actions folder and using that? Does it work that way on Windows? When I tried it on my Mac, it used the system's built in burning setup. When I tried it using Disco it was pretty much the same process.

I will try this tomorrow. Thanks.

To rcannonp:

By golly, it worked! Took me a while to figure out how to do it.

I went to export actions and copied the cd/dvd burner *.exe into "Export Actions," re-started LR and it showed up.

Unless I hear a better idea, I will import, quick edit, export to a temporary file on my C drive, burn the disk and then proceed from there.

Thanks much for the idea.
