Export to CS3

New to this forum.
I'm on a trial of Lightroom. Decided to try because of the RAW files on my new D3''. Can't figure out how to export the RAW file to CS3, do I need to convert?

Thanks for your quick response.
I thought that's what I needed to do, did that, but I get an error message that it's the wrong type of file, and cannot open. Is it because I'm on the trial version?

Another way to edit in Photoshop is to select the photo in Lightroom and press Control+E. This will create a .tiff or .psd file, depending on your External Editing preferences in LR.

The photo will open in PS. When you finish editing, press Control+S. This will result in a tiff or psd file that is automatically entered into the LR database and can be automatically stacked with the original depending on your choice in the Edit Dialog.

Since almost all of my work is for viewing on my computer or on the web, after adjusting in PS, I Flatten, convert to 8 bit, reduce the resolution to 1'' ppi, and reduce the size to fit the screen size I want. This reduces the file size from up to hundreds of megabytes to about 4 or 5 mb. I always keep my original files for re-purposing, as needed.

Kathy, welcome to the forum, you may like to take the time to fill in your signature as I have (this is in the User CP, top left of the page).
You will probably need to update ACR with the plugin from Adobe to use the D3'' NEFs with PS.
However I convert all my NEFs to DNG upon import (backing up the NEFs for safe keeping) as the metadata is written into a DNG file so there are no .xmp files that occur with NEFs. Just a tidy solution.
