I seem to have a bit of a mental block re Export Presets at the moment. Here's how...

I regularly take photos of my daughters rugby games (yes, you read that correctly... my daughter) and I have created a preset called rugby which essentially exports the images to my Zenfolio account, with some LRMogrify settings applied too.

The thing is... how do I get the preset to allow me to select the folder in my Zenfolio Gallery to where I want to upload the images to? If I save the preset, the gallery I have selected presently in the preset is always going to be the gallery images get uploaded to... and obviously I don't want this as I want to upload images to a new gallery location each time I have new images to upload.

So... am I missing something here or is there a way to accomplish this...?

I don't use Zenfolio (yet); but in Jeffrey's Flickr uploader, if I scroll down the export dialog page, there's a whole section devoted to 'Flickr Destination', with many options (including creating a new folder [Flickr calls them 'sets']).

I would assume there's a similar capability for the Zenfolio uploader, but since I haven't actually used it, I could be quite wrong.

Hey Brad

But that's my point... when you save a preset (for the purposes of this thread it doesn't matter that I used Zenfolio in my example, one could use a standard export preset) you also save the location and names etc of the file to be exported with the preset. So, when you come to use the preset, the location and names etc are already saved with the preset and thus doesn't this render it useless?

Examples

I create an export preset that saves images to the /thisdirectory location on my Mac, with image1 as the name of the file and also whatever other settings I want in the preset.
I work on and then export image 1 using this preset. Image one is then in /thisdirectory/iamge1.jpg

I work on and then export image 2 using the same preset. Image 2 is then in /thisdirectory/image1.jpg thus overwriting the first image I had in there?

If the export dialogue were to open asking for a name and location for your file, this would work, but then again it sort of defeats the object of an export preset doesn't it...?

Am I missing something here folks...?

Aha... here's something for Zenfolio Users.

That wonderful Jeffery has just released an update to the plug-in, see release comments below;

Added the ability to put the "select at time of export" item at the top of the destination list, as had been requested a few times.
Looks like this is how best to use the Zenfolio plugin now.

Nice one Jeffrey, first class timing (well, for me anyhow :) ).

Damn... I now get an error when trying to export using a preset. Must contact Jeffrey

EDIT: I have added a comment in Jeffrey's blog page for Zenfolio outlining the issue I am experiencing here.
