export location & scene metadata as keywords

That's it really. I know/see LR2 exports location metadata of country/state/city as tag on the image but is it possible to do the same with the 'location' and 'scene' datafields?

I can't find this anywhere online so would appreciate any info anyone could provide; I keep all my location info in the location fields, not keywords, but when I upload to flickr or picasaweb (or indeed locally in Picasa) I can't search via this location/scene data (even though I've written out the xmp/jpeg - ctrl-s) and it's mildly annoying to say the least!

Also, writing other metadata / exif to keywords - possible?

How does Flickr handle IPTC metadata? That's what those fields are, and there seems to be a wide range in how non-news media software handles that, due to evolving standards.

I haven't experimented with Flickr so I don't know. There's a lot of information on keywords, metadata, and IPTC (and other standards) here:

Copying metadata/Exif to keywords? For high volume, will probably require an external application, such as exiftool.

LR does this for Country, State and City so I don't see why it can't follow it's own form and do the same for Location and Scene - this is really simple stuff LR is capable of doing should should do.
Flickr handles the metadata as it's handed to it - flickr isn't a processing tool, it's just an image host - it won't crunch any of the data itself. Flickr displays all the metadata and tags it's given, no more no less.

PCCS3 and Adobe's Lightroom propose themselves to be professional software with standardised metadata support - it's not the iptc data itself (that's fine) it's how LR seems to selectively handle this data.

I suggest you may take the strategy of putting in feature request using the form accessible through the link in this pages header. It is a common grumble and the more requests the more likely or sooner it may be actioned.
