Export folders

Hi there,

I set some filters and arrive at a subset of all my photos, this subset comes from a variety of folders. I then choose to export this subset - I would like to export to another drive but also export the folder hierarchies that the photos in the subset originally come from. In the export box when I edit the file naming template I can see you can use the folder name there but cannot combine it with a \ to get a directory structure as \ doesnt seem to get interpreted like that. Any ideas how I could achieve this ?

I don't think you can. I think you're stuck with any given export batch going to a single identified folder.

I've encountered this lack when trying to segregate images for differing gallery uploads, and end up basically sorting it out in the OS file browser (Explorer replacement for me).
In my case, I have contiguous numbering, so it's pretty simple. I'm guessing your need is more complex? Perhaps a workaround, stick the folder name in the export name to identify what goes where.

Unfortunately Brads absolutely right, there is no current option for replicating a hierarchy, but please do put in a feature request, because I'd love to see that too.

The other alternative is to use 'Export as Catalog'. You can export the selected photos, and if you select 'Include originals', it'll create the same hierarchy in the destination drive. They will obviously be your uncorrected files, but opening that resulting catalog on the other drive would then give you the option to use 'Export to: Same Folder as Original Photo' and get it to put them in a subfolder. Might be a workaround for now.
