I searched and searched, but found no answer to this question.

How can I export a photo out of lightroom directly to a web folder? The reason is that I have a specific header image file name my site loads up. I want to change that image monthly and thought I would just export the new image directly to the web folder where the file resides. Is this possible?

you have to go into webmodule and use the export from there. You can put the folder name in, and find out in wich subdir the imagefile is exported to. Propably into /images

I was trying to eliminate steps. I can export to disk and copy to the web folder. I was looking for a way to copy directly to a web folder.

Can you define "web folder"?

You could create an Export Action to do whatever you want with the file after Export, perhaps. But there might be a simpler solution, depending what "web folder" means to you.

If I remember rightly, there was an FTP export plugin in the SDK download as an example. You could download that and give it a try. That should work.

"web folder" = a folder on my web hosting server.

And how do you get files into it?

FTP? I'd probably just build an Export Action.
Webdav? I'd find a way to get the operating system to mount it for you, and just export to that location.

What operating system? Will your FTP client take command-line options?

If you're on Windows, write a batch file that runs your FTP client and takes the names of the files on the command line, and you're good to go (assuming you know how to write such a script).

If you're on a Mac and you've got an AppleScript-aware FTP client, you could write it in AppleScript. Otherwise, write a shellscript.

Be careful about embedding your FTP password in the script. A best practice is use the operating system's password store to house the password. A second-best practice is to put the password in a separate file and set the permissions carefully on that file.
