Error occurred when attemting to change modules

Hi,
so I've downloaded lightroom 2 on my mac book pro os x. From the start I'm already having trouble, imediately when opening lightroom a window saying an error as occured when attemping to change modules. Lightrooms almost completley non responsive, I can't even open prefrences. I've read some of the other forums about this problem and it seems like there hasn't been a real fix and lightroom fixs itself in a way. I've tried downloading different updates of the program and have had no luck. One user turned off his mac and the problem was magically fixed, I'm not having much luck can anyone help?

Ho Tolaskey, welcome to the forum! Unable to change modules is usually the program hasn't installed properly, or a damaged preset somewhere. Tell us a bit more. Have you had LR installed on this computer before? And are you installing the 2.6 update, or something earlier? What OS version are you running? i.e. 1'.5.8 or...?

On the assumption that this is a first install, and you're installing 2.6 on the latest OS update, installing into a clean user account and then copying the files back across will often solve it.

i havent downloaded lightroom before. im running 1'.5.8. ive tried downloading most of the 2 updates (2.1, 2.3, 2.6) and have had no luck. ill try what you've suggested and let you know if it works. thank you.

so i've downloaded it on a clean user account and it worked great. now ive tried to share the files to my original account and its still messaging error

Apologies for only just getting back to this thread.

Ok, that's great, that's at least narrowed it down to a problem with that user account. I can't, from memory, remember where all of the files are, but go looking in user/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom and make sure those are copied across to the same place on your normal account, and anything else. Copy rather than trying to share those files.

That solved all my problems. Lightroom had not download correctly onto my main account so as you suggested I copied all my files from the working lightroom onto a cd then uploaded them all on to my main account. Thanks for all the help!
