I have just started using Lightroom 2.'. Everything was going great and I had about 11,''' images imported into my main catalogue from one of my networked RAIDs, but suddenly a gliche seems to have arisen, although I have not changed my methods.

Now, when I go to import from a folder, I get the following error message: No photos were found to import

It doesn't make any difference if I select the folder or the images within the folder.

I know the images are there. I can see them in Breezebrowser and Bridge.

It is now taking forever to slowly add the rest of the images as these errors keep cropping up, I sometimes get by them by quitting and reopening LR, but that fix seems to be working less and less and there are some folders it just doesn't seem to like (and they can be RAF or NEF images, so the camera format doesn't seem to be making the difference).

I'm running LR on Windows Vista with 4 GB of RAM, and my images are networked on two D-Link RAIDs.

After going so well with so many images, I just can't see what I'm doing wrong.

Also, for no apparent reason, sometimes images show up with a exclamation mark triangle in the upper right hand corner...then sometimes that just goes away (often when the window is just open and I haven't done anything to any of the images). Of course, it's always there when I actually want to work on the image :(

I have run the update and it says I've got the latest version. I am running the app off my laptop at the moment, since it has more juice than my old desktop.

Any help would be appreciated.

Michelle

Michelle, welcome to the forums. Sorry you're having troubles.

First, while you can keep your original image files on networked storage, it's not recommended. For good performance, you really need high bandwidth to those files, and frequently a network arrangement is too slow.

Secondly, I'm sure you're aware, but I'll emphasize it, those Exclamation Point icons mean that Lr has lost its link(s) to the image files in question. If it's coming and going, to me that means something funky is going on with the connectivity to those files, meaning the networked drive(s). Since that would also explain the import flakiness as well, that's the first place I'd look.

It might be worth creating:
a) a duplicate subset of your images on a fast internal drive, and
b) a new empty test catalog, again on a fast internal drive,

and see if that helps isolate the problem to the networked disks.

Hi,
Thanks for the info. I did check and I am running LR 2.3 now. Also, found that if I connect my laptop straight into the router that the disconnect problem goes away. Now have 8',''' images in my catalog and all seems well....fingers crossed. Seems like it just didn't like to maintain the wi-fi connection.

Cheers,
Michelle

Thank s for the update Michelle!!:D:D
