Most of my images are pictures but I do shoot a bit of video on my Canon 5D MKIV. It suits my workflow to import direct from card into LR alongside pictures although I edit in Premiere Pro.

I recently acquired a DJI Ronin S 3-axis gimbal to shoot super steady footage. The Ronin connects to the Canon via a mini USB Cable and allows the taking of pictures and the start/stop of video to be controlled by buttons on the Ronin. Pictures work perfectly.

Video files however wont import. LR chews away on them for a while then gives an error box saying “An unknown error has occurred while reading the video file. Connecting to Dynamic Link Server failed”.

If I manually copy the files to disk then try to import to LR from there I get the same error.

The video files play fine in Windows, Premier Pro imports and handles them without issue and Canon Photo Professional also has no problems.

I’m a bit puzzled why LR should get itself in a twist when everything else is fine.

Any suggestions anyone ?

Thanks
