A Ctrl-S to see if it was having problems writing metadata would be my first thought.

Or it could be an image that couldn't export properly at some stage.

If you can't find anything wrong, it's possible there's nothing wrong, in which case you can right click and choose 'Remove this temporary collection'.

Take a look at the individual images that make up the collection. Is possible that there are broken links due to moving and or deletion of images. If the link is broken you should see a question mark over the preview thumbnail while in Library grid mode.

I have the same thing only 97 images. Cannot find anything wrong. I think it must be a LR bug.
