M1 iMac, LR 11.0.1 - All works well except when I select crop or push R to select crop. Image area goes gray and after a delay shows the image with the crop overlay. What settings could I change to speed up this process?

I have the same hardware and software and for me it is instantaneous. Are you running an anti malware app by chance that sits between Lightroom Classic and the files it needs to access? If no Anti-malware app is interfering, you might try resetting preferences.

On Windows, the first time I enter crop mode, it takes a couple seconds, but after that, it's instantaneous. This is on relatively slow hardware.
