Entering case insensitive keywording

Here's another keyword feature request:

My keyword set contains keywords starting with and without uppercase characters. While tagging my photo and typing the keywords in the single line text box, LR shows a dropdown with somekind of auto completion.

The problem is when I started out typing lowercase and the selection an option from the dropdown that's uppercase, LR combines the two together and treats it as a whole new keyword, started with my typed characters and the rest of the keyword in the dropdown.

So if I type something like this:

look (and I select the keyword Looking At View), I get this keyword: looking At View and LR treats this as a new keyword.

So I would really like case insensitive keywords or it will override my entered text with the selection from the dropdown.

The main problem here is that SQLite3, the database engine underneath Lightroom IS case insensitive...

This is a problem for me too. The implementation of case in Lightroom does not fully repect the case sensitivity of SQLite, and this causes problems such as the one highlighted above.

Since there exists a possibility of having two or more keywords which are identical apart from the case of one or more letters, the LR keywording system should treat them as completely separate, ie if you type 'Light' you would get 'Lightroom' but not 'lightbulb' or 'LIGHTWEIGHT'.

But it can be handled in the user interface. It cannot be too difficult to get the exact casing of the word I select from the dropdown box.

Joop, I agree, but as with all things of this nature, it's a matter of choosing priorities for the development team. Who knows where this falls on the big list?

Yes but they also say that this can hit the performance and we asked Adobe for speed... :roll:

I myself prefer to live with the little problem and opt for speed.

Thanks for the tip. I placed a bug report of the wrong casing selecting a keyword from the dropdown box.
