Keywords - In the library view I'd like to be able to drag keywords onto an image. How it works now is good, but I'd like this too.

It would be nice if I could adjust the size of the Keywording "box" so that I could have more than 9 words showing. I imagine this goes along with "dual monitor" support - having each of the "boxes" such as 'Histogram' 'Quick Develop' etc. in the Library module separate and movable so I can put them where I'd like, and whatever size I'd like.

You can sorta do this using the painter tool, but you need to be dragging the same keyword (or set of keywords) to a largish group of images to make it worthwhile.

But when that's your need, it's far better than what you suggest, because you can just drag across all the relevant images, instead of dragging one keyword at a time to one image at a time.

I do the vast majority of my keywording this way these days.

I've been playing with the painter tool. It is a good way to do keywording. Different than what I'm used to in, for example, iView, but it certainly has it's merits.

What I would like is to be able to use the painter when appropriate, but at other times have a bunch of photos on a grid and a bunch of keywords on a list and be able to drag the keywords selectively.

What about using Keyword Sets? Sounds like something you may want to try out, as it lets you have 9 different keywords in a "quick collection" that you can apply to images. Not exactly what you are looking for, but maybe a decent alternative.

It works particularly well when combined with keyboard shortcuts. Alt/Opt combined with numbers 1-9 apply the keyword to the selected image. The numbers show up on the keyword set layout when you hold down Alt/Opt which makes it easy to see which is which.

Victoria and Ian - thanks - both good tips.

Ian - I've been using the sets - I guess more often than not I need more than 9 keywords handy. Wish I could make that window bigger to show 12, 15, 18, etc. and have the metadata window just scroll further down the screen.

Yeah. More keywords per set would be nice, and, unless I've missed it, the ability to add all keywords in a set in one fell swoop.
