Efficient Way to use Lightroom Classic CC on laptop with 256GB SSD and 1TD hard-disk drive

I need help in setting up and operating Lightroom Classic CC (LRCCC) on my laptop so that I do not fill up the SSD with RAW files too quickly. Is there a way to efficiently operate LRCCC on the SSD (C-drive) while storing RAW and processed files on the Hard-disk drive (D-drive)?

Keep your catalogue on the SSD and your images on the hard drive. If the catalogue eventually takes up too much space on the SSD, you'll be able to move it to the hard drive without much hassle. Until that time, you'll probably get better performance with the catalogue on the SSD.

The imported images are not IN the Lightroom catalog. You can have Lightroom place them on whatever drive (or drives) you wish.

To expand a bit on Jim's point, the basic thing you need to understand about the catalog is that it is a database. It contains info about the images, not the images themselves. They can be anywhere in your system as long as LR knows where that is. Take a look at the following link for a more detailed explanation:
