Editing photos with LR2 & LR3 from the same folder

This is probably a very basic and simple question, but a few quick searches of the forum did not result in any answers to my query.
I wanted to know if I can add my DNG files to both LR2 and LR3 programs from the same folder location on my hard drive. At first blush I would venture to say this is not an issue. However, I was wondering if I could edit the same DNG file when working in LR2 then access it later from LR3 to compare my edits. Eventually I would want to switch back to LR2 until the final release of LR3 is available.
Whew! Confusing, isn't it...?

You can but DON'T do it. It is highly recommended by Adobe to work the beta with copies or originals...

Ahhh - Thanks for the info. I am only working with a few pictures in the LR3 Beta, but I was going to pull in a full folder of images. I think I will leave the original files where they are, fully edited and indexed in LR2 and make a copy of the DNG in a separate folder to play with in LR3.
