Edit in CS4 leaves file as raw

I have had edit in CS4 working. Now it doesn't open in an "edit" file or switch to TIFF as I specified.

I have played with settings and may have messed things up, however, I see others have had this problem.

Has it been resolved, or any suggestions?

What type of file - raw or jpeg? And from which camera? And which ACR version do you have in CS4?

I use two types of raw file, Nikon raw (NEF), using D7' and Canon raw (CE2), using PowerShot S9'. Failure to convert to TIFF or to PSD is the same with both.

ACR ver 5.6.'.148. This is listed in "About Plug" in CS4.

When opening a NEF file in CS4 I also see the raw file and not the TIFF file. However, when I close the file in CS4 after all changes are made I do get an Edit file.

What you describe happens with me. In other words, when I tried to carry out an edit in CS4 today, I thought the conversion tool place straight away, forgetting how it must have worked last time....I'm new to Lightroom.

No worries. Glad you got it figured out. FWIW, it DID used to create the tiff first at one stage, and still does if you are using an older version of PS or gives you the choice if you're using a mismatched ACR version.

Your's is the complete answer, Victoria.

I was on CS3 up to a week or two ago, using just the Nikon D7'. I upgraded to CS4 on purchasing a Canon camera that requires the 5.6 ACR.

The change you describe will have taken place then.
