Edit in CS4 from LR2 - New System

Have managed to find answer re recent confusing change in behaviour - ie raw images now go straight into CS4 - This is great! However I have three more related questions:-

1. Is there a simple way to then get them into CS4 ACR? (And yes there is a reason why I would prefer CS4 ACR - the curves are much easier to use!)

2.I have a raw image that I have processed in LR2.3, and when I open it in CS4 (either in Raw or as a smart object) CS4 opens an earlier version in which I had made a clumsy correction with the dust removal tool in LR2. This happens even if I reset the image to its imported state - ie other processing goes away, but the messy dust removal is still there. I can't remember if I ever took this image to CS4 before, but I think not - as this is the first time I've used the combination since the change (above) and so it would have been an edit-TIF file, not a NEF.

3. I edited another image in CS4 as a smart object, and when I saved it, it appeared in LR2 in the default "Pictures" folder on my C drive - where I've never kept any images. How do I get it to arrive stacked with the original?

Sorry for the delay replying...

1. Use the Edit in PS as Smart Object and then double click on the smart object in the layers palette to open it into ACR. But the settings won't get saved back to LR. Or right click > show in Explorer > and then open into CS4?

2. If you're opening from raw, it's reading the sidecar xmp, not LR's settings. The messy dust removal must have been there in xmp before you imported into LR, if the import state includes it. If you reset in LR using the Reset button (or delete the messing dust removal) and then you hit ctrl-S and then open it in CS4 via explorer again, it should have updated.

3. Ummmmm. That's a weird one. Where's the original? And if you do a normal edit in PS, does that save to the right place?
