Edit image not showing in PSCS3

LR 1.4.1 on OS X 1'.4.11:

Previously this all worked fine. Now (after building a new catalog on an internal disk), when in Develop, and "Edit in Photoshop" is clicked, LR creates the xxx-Edit-1 file, launches PS, but PS does not open the image!

I seem to recall some years back there was an issue with PS where double-clicking a PS image would launch the PS but not open the pix. Has it returned?

Any clues as to what might cause this?

The old PS double-click problem was due to the Adobe Unit Types file not being in the right place(Mac HD/Library/Scripting Additions). If you haven't done anything like reinstalling your system or manually moving your PS installation, then that shouldn't be the problem. If you double-click a PSD on your desktop, what happens? Where are the catalog and the pictures in it saved? Have you tried anything like repairing permissions?

Getting worse!

I've done all the permission repairs, ran Cocktail, etc etc... Something funky is going on. PS was very stable and working sweetly with LR. I THINK it may have been after installing ColorMunki (Now returned and uninstalled).

I think I saw something in another forum (and now can't find it) where CM was sited as causing PS not to open image from LR because of a CMunki plug-in problem.

Photoshop is becoming increasingly flaky --- not only will it not open images from LR (it will launch), but now saying it can't save save an images as there are too many windows open. This G5 has 6G of ram and nearly 6''G of spare disk space... something is seriously amiss.

Anybody know where CM hides it's plugins? I seem to recall loading them but I'm such a mush-head, I've forgotten where they are!

First I would try to get rid of any screwy plugins. They are usually in Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS3/Plugins/Filters. If they aren't there then do a search. If things are still acting up then I would try trashing the PS prefs. If that doesn't help, then I would try reinstalling PS. If things are still screwy after that, then I don't know.

colormunki is the culprit

I ran into exactly the same problem after installing colormunki by x-rite:
- When editing files from LR to PS CS3, PS did not open the image
- After opening 3 files (of any size) in PS I would get the following error message: "Could not save xxx because there are too many files open. Try closing some windows and try again."
- PS flakiness got worse, not showing any files on any of my hard drives when selecting Open in PS

I ended up reverting back to an older image of my system before I had installed colormunki using Time Machine (which worked flawlessly). Once I had done that, all problems with PS went away. I wasn't totally sure it was colormunki until I read this thread.

I've since reinstalled colormunki and haven't experienced any of the above problems with PS (I downloaded a new version of the colormunki software - perhaps it was updated since the first download a few weeks prior?). However, I cannot seem to get the same color rendering between LR and PS when using the colormunki monitor profile. When I switch to another profile, colors look the same between LR and PS. Any ideas here? I am using ProPhoto RGB colorspace in PS as well as when selecting "edit in PS" from LR.

I'm about ready to return colormunki if I can't get this worked out.

I seem to have solved my problem with colors not matching between LR and PS when using the colormunki monitor profile. As I am still somewhat a novice in PS, I did not know about the Soft Proofing settings under the view menu. Once I set them to use the colormunki monitor profile everything matched up perfectly (after I deselected Black Point Compensation).

So far so good with colormunki....
