I was just wondering if Lightroom provides a way to burn the slideshow on a DVD. If not is it something that could possibly be avialable on newer versions of Lightroom?

It can't at the moment Ben, but by all means put in a feature request at http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform.
It may be something that can be added as a plugin now the SDK's been released, so even if Adobe don't add it, someone else might.
