Can you duotone a 16 bit photo in lightroom 2? I don't currently own the program, I'm trying to decide between it and cs3 since the prices are similar. I mainly shoot b&w in raw, does lightroom fulfill most of your creative editing needs?

Welcome, Robert. Yes, it does duotones to raws. I suggest you download a 3' day trial of the latest version from Adobe at Lightroom 2.1. You can see for you self!

If you then have further questions, comeback and ask away!

Well it is not strictly a Duotone (a la Photoshop). It is called Split Tone.

Essentially the file is still color (and is indeed unchanged) it has a Greyscale recipe attached and then color to the shadows and highlights.

And yes try out the demo! :)
