Hello everyone. I am about to download a 3' day trial of Lightroom and will then purchase. I've never downloaded software before and have a question on how I can also load it on my desktop. The download will be to my laptop. Subsequently if I change machine how do I transfer the software. Sorry to ask such basic questions.

Many thanks

Phil

Hi Phil, welcome to the forum!

When you download the file, put it somewhere safe. You'll transfer that file to your desktop too.

Then you'll double click on the downloaded file, and it'll start the installer just like putting a cd in your computer would do. You can do the same on your desktop.

Thank you. Should have realized that it was just going to download a file that I could manage on the machine myself.

I am so impressed with this package.

Regards

Phil

No problem Phil, that's what we're here for!

Phil:
This is a bit off topic, but... I have a folder on my desktop called "Downloads". It has subfolders by publisher/topic, ie. Adobe, Microsoft, Garmin, etc. I download the program into that folder. This accomplishes 2 things. I always know where my download goes, sometimes not too simple if using Windows! It also allows me to know the most recent downloads I have made, which sometimes gets confusing with the massive number of drivers, patches, program updates, etc. that we deal with. After you have downloaded the file and now know exactly where it is stored, you can follow Victoria's excellent directions to install. This works well for me!
