I thought I shot Jpeg images when I down loaded them in lightroom 1.4.1 the thumbnails had Nef + Jpeg under them. How do I separate them? I went to the folder with all the images every other one is a jpeg. I highlited all, went to view sort by- is grayed out. Could not find any thing in LR to separate Jpegs and RAw .. Bob

There is an option in Lightroom's Preferences to treat JPEGs as separate or not. Look at:
Edit -> Preferences -> Import -> Treat JPEGs near RAWs as distinct images...
or similar phrasing. 3rd option I think.

If unchecked, Lightroom will ignore JPEGs and show the RAW only.

Does that help?

I went into preferences checked the box for jpegs. When I reopened LR nothing happened. I deleted folder from catalog. Re imported and got Raw and Jpegs sorted by ext. and removed the jpegs. I'm in good shape now. Bob thanks for the help

If the file type displayed in the Info Overlay is RAW + JPEG, then yes, you're working with the RAW. In this mode, LR fundamentally ignores the JPEG file, unless you move or rename the RAW. Then it treats the JPEG identically as if it were a conjoined twin.
